Mini Games

After the breakout success of the quizzes, BuzzFeed editorial and tech collaborated to create the next generation of addictive, shareable interactive formats to engage their audiences. As the sole product designer, I collaborated with 3 engineers, 1 producer and 1 illustrator to experiment a bunch of game formats that are shareable and adaptable for different contents.

In 18-months, we published 60 mini games. 6 of them were sold to brands as sponsored content. While there are various degrees of successes and fails, the most popular games have the following things in common:
1. simple, quick-to-learn gameplay
2. unique content
3. audience-in-mind.

The games team got dissolved, and the popular formats were integrating into BuzzFeed’s Content Management System to enable more editors to make games.
